Computer Use & Office Software

Master the computer skills every job description now assumes.

From writing a CV to managing a small project, basic computer literacy is now the entry ticket to almost every job. This program takes trainees from first principles to confident daily use of the programs offices actually run on.

The curriculum is task-based: trainees produce real documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, manage files and email professionally, and learn to work safely online. No prior experience is required.

The curriculum is structured as a sequence of real workplace outputs: by the end of the program each trainee has produced a formatted CV in Word, a monthly budget tracker in Excel, a five-slide professional presentation in PowerPoint, and a correctly filed cloud folder shared with a peer. Every concept is introduced through the task it enables — no abstract theory before the relevant tool is open in front of the trainee. This makes the learning tangible and the transfer to a real job immediate.

  • Operate Windows confidently: files, folders, settings and printing
  • Write and format professional documents in Word
  • Build spreadsheets with formulas and simple charts in Excel
  • Prepare clear presentations in PowerPoint
  • Use email and calendars professionally
  • Work with cloud storage and shared documents
  • Stay safe online: passwords, backups and avoiding scams
  • Use Excel formulas (SUM, AVERAGE, IF) and conditional formatting to build a simple data-tracking sheet
  • Create a professional multi-slide PowerPoint presentation with consistent theme, speaker notes, and a data chart

What you walk away with

Graduates handle everyday computer tasks independently and meet the baseline digital requirements of office, administrative and customer-facing jobs. Graduates also develop the habit of organising digital work in a logical folder structure — a small discipline that saves time every working day and impresses detail-conscious employers.
